In What Way Can The Alumni Help The University?

UPV through the OAR invites its friends, alumni, government institutions and private corporations to help the university augment its income. Funds solicited from the alumni can help finance the following projects:

  1. Sandaang Piso Para Sa Iskolar / A Hundred Dollar For A Scholar - For a minimum of one hundred pesos or one hundred dollars, you can help finance deserving but financially-needed students. The accumulated amount for the project will help pay for the tuition fee, monthly stipend and other miscellaneous expenses of high school and/or collge students.

  2. Refurbish the classrooms/Laboratory/Auditorium - You can help renovate or equip the existing classrooms, laboratories and the auditorium with modern equipment and facilities.

  3. The Alumni Gallery - The Gallery will showcase alumni memorabilia like photographs, old UP paraphernalia/articles, manuscripts and other documents and memoirs of UPV alumni. The Gallery will also be a place where the alumni can simply come anytime within the working day, either to read mementos, scan photographs or simply hang out to visit UPV. You can help finance the renovation of the building and/or you can donate equipment, furniture, or any item that can give the gallery a semblance of a "home" for the visiting alumni.

  4. Build a Building - You may have plans to support the construction of the following proposed structures: Chemical Engineering Building, Food Pilot Plant, Centennial Garden, CM Faculty Center, High School Centennial Building, Alumni Park, and Diwata Complex, among others.

  5. Faculty and Alumni Mentoring Using the Electronic Media (FAME) - If you have the expertise in one or more professional or technical areas, you can enlist as an official UP "mentor" whose role is to advise our students about career choices and options through the internet.

  6. Libro Para Sa Iskolar Ng Bayan - You can donate old or new textbooks or reference materials preferably with copyright dates from 2000-the present for high school and college students on any of the following subject areas: management, marketing, accounting, philosophy, law, sociology, community development, political science, anthropology, arts and humanities, broadcast communication, literature, chemistry, physics, biology, zoology, fisheries, technology, environment, and physical education.

  7. Professional Chair/Faculty Grants Project - With your cash donation, more members of the faculty can avail themselves of professorial chairs and faculty grants in recognition of their meritorious work in the field of research, teaching and creative endeavors.

The project Libro Para sa Iskolar Ng Bayan was launched in December 2005. The idea is for the alumni of the different organizations, various alumni chapters, and other alumni associations here and abroad to bring home a book to UPV published between 2000-2005. The books can be along the areas of science, arts, technology - those that can serve as reference materials or textbooks for both the high school and college students. Book donations can be sent to the OAA and will be duly labelled as donations after the organizations, associations, or persons who donated the books.
